Discover the classic printmaking process of intaglio used by Rembrandt and Goya. Participants will create two artworks in a three session course. Participants will learn how to prepare a copper etching plate, transfer and etch an image into the plate, then print the image with an etching press. All materials included; steel twisted double point scribe and a Scraper/burnisher, copper, paper & ink.
Dates: Saturdays, January 18, 25, and February 5th, 2020
Time: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM There will be a break each session. Bring a snack with you or visit our next door neighbor, Kings Peak Coffee, for a beverage.
No experience necessary! Beginners and individuals looking for a ‘refresher’ course in basic intaglio printmaking are welcome to join the workshop.

Instructor Nathanael Read
Nathanael is a working artist and printmaker. He graduated from the University of Utah in 2016, and works primarily with the intaglio process. He has shown across the state and nation, including institutions such as the Springville Museum of Art, the LDS Church History Museum, the Harnett Museum of Art at the University of Richmond.
